One thing on his mind...

So George W. Bush is in Oz for the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Summit.

Sydney's in high security, lock down mode. Residents have been granted a day off work today (Friday) and apparently traffic is in chaos as a result of major roads and intersections being blocked off.

With 21 world leaders in attendance, including China's President Hu Jintao and Russia's President Vladimir Putin, it's a high profile, international event, which you'd assume is of great significance to the Asia Pacific region.

So you'd expect the leader of the world's most powerful nation to have been adequately briefed on what was going on, and what event he was actually attending.

Enter George W.

"G'day and welcome to the OPEC Summit."

OPEC = Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Imagine!

Who would've EVER thought Mr Bush and his administration would have OIL on their minds.

What a joke.
Thanks for coming George W.
Now, please go home!

Hi Bel!

So you're back! Good to 'see' you again. Like you, I've been feeling a bit uninspired 're blogging'.

All the best from Mellie,

M

HAHAHA!

We are just grateful he could manage OPEC out of his mouth.

He could have said, "Welcome to the O-P-E-C summit." :-)

Yale University must be SO PROUD!

Are you sure you don't want to just keep him? We don't want him back. He did also thank you for your Austrian troops.

Idea of Progress - OMG...I thought I heard him say "Austrian troops", but then I thought NO WAY! SURELY HE COULD NOT HAVE SAID THAT!!!!

I am VERY sure we don't want to keep him. Thanks for the offer though ;o)

Yes, I finished reading 'Vroom with a View' while I was in Malaysia. I started it at the same time as 'A Year in Provence' by Peter Mayle. This was something new for me because I have never read two books at the same time but I know people who did. So I gave myself an experiment to see if I could juggle both books. It went smoothly.

Am going to start 'Under the Tuscan Sun' soon...as soon as I get some free time. I'm a slow reader.

Again, thanks for the recommendation. I loved Vroom! Have you read Peter Moore's other books? I went to his website to see the photos and found out he had a couple other books out.

The weather in NYC was cool and dry for the last week and a half until today. It got a little muggy/humid. But I expect that to change soon.

Definitely e-mail me when you are in NYC. Or e-mail me now so I can give you my contact information.
